The festival takes place in Noi Due Commune, Lien Bao Commune and Lim Town in Tien Du District, Bac Ninh Province. The purpose of this festival is to enhance and promote the tradition of Quan Ho singing.
Lim Festival-an attraction
The main day of the festival is 13th day of Lunar New Year. Visitors come to enjoy the festival and see the performances of “lien anh” and “lien chi”. Female singers (called “lien chi”) are beautiful in “ao tu than” (four-panel traditional dress) and “non quai thao” (“quai thao” hat). Male singers (called “lien anh”) are elegant in “ao the” and “khan xep”. They sing love duets together in pair of one male and one female.
Apart from watching performances of Quan Ho, festival goers can experience weaving competitions among the girls of Noi Due hamlet—simultaneously, they weave and sing Quan Ho. Other traditional games such as human chess playing, swinging, and wrestling are also held in the festival.
